The End is Near…

The Vendee Globe challengers are approaching the end, which may come as early as this weekend. However, the drama has not stopped. Jean-Pierre Dick (still in third but surely to be passed soon),  has broken his keel, but is puttering along at a measly 11 knots. The skipper of Virbac -Paprec 3 has yet to…

Vendee Globe, Single Handed Around The World Race

Take a minute or two and see what the toughest sailboat race in the world is up to. It has been almost 2 months and the race is about 3/4 of the way finished. Nordkapp To Stockholm…..

…… in an inflatable 13′ catamaran. That all adds up to approx. 1350 NM and 45 days. I like that every day he ends with setting up camp and sleeping ashore. This might be the only way I could be talked into this…………on second thought, no, I could never be talked into this. Check out…

We are trying to keep up with the predominantly French sailboat race, the Vendee Globe Challenge 2012-2013. This is truly the only regatta that is harder than the Volvo Ocean Race. Twenty racers began the race and only thirteen remain. Take a minute to catch up on the latest action as sailors try and race…

Extreme 40’s Hit Brazil

These are the highlights from act 8 in beautiful Rio De Janeiro. Torben Grael, skipper of Team Brasil and home town hero could not make it happen. Leigh Mcmillan of The Wave Muskat takes the double and probably has the best finishes for 2012. Great job, Team Muscat! I can’t wait to catch the action next year in Oman……….

Extreme 40’s, Niece

Haven’t seen much from these guys lately, but the Extreme 40 Series is still going strong. The fleet saw some good action off of the southern coast of France this week, in the beautiful city of Nice. With a challenging start, a.k.a. crash, Team Edmonds de Rothschild had to make some repairs after day 2. The…

First AC 72 Pitch pole…..

…..and it caused them almost loose more than the rig! [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drgglIebuQY&w=560&h=315] Apparently it is quite the big deal when these things flip, unlike the smaller AC45’s that seem to go over regularly. After extensive hours, efforts and a strong ebb tide, the crew and the boat made it back to shore. The enormous wing however…
