The first two skippers finished the Vendee Globe Solo Around the world race, yesterday just 3 hours apart. Pretty amazing! The big story however is Alex Thomson, skipper of Hugo Boss who has decided to follow Jean-Pierre Dick to safety instead of pass him and take the 3rd place podium spot from him. As mentioned…
It has been a while since I have posted a Views from Aloft segment, we’ve been super busy! This was about 2 months ago in the beautiful Baltimore Inner Harbor with Ft. Mchenry just across the water. Any guesses where we were? If my memory serves me correct this was a 2005 Hunter 44 Deck…
Last week, one of the world’s most infamous regattas has crossed the finish line yet once again. The Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race usually offers some some real excitement when it comes to rough sea conditions and heavy winds. Over the years, this race has earned a reputation for causing some detrimental damage to sailors and their…
Another good ‘archives’ find…… Such a bizarre place. Look at how thick the lip of the wave is. Amazing! We don’t usually do surfing vids, but if you click the link you will be astonished, guaranteed! http://video.mpora.com/hdep/5Pgs2slxu/
Some people are daunted by the task of attempting to run-in or reeve new lines which run internally or cannot be easily accessed. Halyards for instance present the problem of, “how do I get the old one out and the new one in?”. Let’s address some technicalities first… ~Not all eye splices are created equally….

Mar Mastro finds itself just ahead of last place Team Sanya and aside from the fleet making a huge mistake, will be lucky to reel-in Team Abu Dhabi, which lie just ahead. Team Groupama is nipping at the leader’s heals only 7 NM…

Hello Christophe. That is a beautiful boat, but unfortunately I do not know how to find it’s builder or if it is for sale. However! Our friends over at Denison Yacht sales, namely Lloyd Cooper has a real knack for finding special boats and you may want to click the link for more info on him.

HI Christophe, this was a one-off build designed by the American naval Architect William for his own use. She was built in Aluminum by Global Yachts (the Howdy Bailey yard) back in 1995.
If you’re looking for something like this I’d recommend some other ‘Spirit of Tradition’ style builders that might be of interest to you. Drop me a line anytime and I can send you some yachts that match your criteria.
