The Clipper Around the World Race is my latest discovery (although I am sure most of you already know of this). This is essentially a Volvo Ocean Race for amateurs of all shapes and sizes. It seems the boats are all one design and fully rigged and equipped to handle the challenges of the open sea. This sailing program offers the ultimate sailing experience. Pretty neat! I may have to check it out myself :-0)

You can read more about the race, the boats, and where to sign up for the 2013-2014 race at their site http://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/.

Watch this clip of perhaps the best wave surf I have ever witnessed, inspiring.  These boats must be able to really go! Here the boat reaches speeds of  27 knots as they head toward the leg 9 finish from Qingdao to the Golden Gate Bridge in the San Francisco Bay.
