Epic Finish in Auckland!

Many sailors are at home here in Aukland and many are just plain relieved by the thought of finishing this grueling leg. Franck Cammas and Team Groupama clinch their first Volvo Ocean Race leg win, smashing the competition and finishing 12 hours ahead of second place. The battle for second and third was the most impressive part as Team Puma Powered by Berg, who once were in last place at the beginning of the leg, managed to beat the race leader, Team Telefonica by 50 minutes for the 2nd place podium spot. Skipper Chris Nicholson and Team Camper nipped at Telefonica’s heels finishing in 4th place just 93 seconds behind the Spanish team, quite a feat for an almost 5000 NM race. Although at the back of the pack, spirits remained high aboard Sanya as some of the sailors reminisce of their past Merritt Cup memories………
