Complete Rigging Inspections
The purpose of a rigging inspection is to evaluate and document the viability of your vessels rigging, and to provide you with information to help you maintain your boat’s rigging needs. Sometimes inspections are requirements set forth by insurance companies, the Coast Guard, prospective buyers and sometimes even the seller prior to putting the boat on the market. The areas typically addressed during a rigging inspection are:
- Masts and booms
- Mast spreaders
- Standing rigging (including aloft, and chainplates if accessible)
- Furling systems
- Rig tune (mast rake, shape, and rigging tension)
- Running rigging
- Associated Hardware
- Poles or any other rigging associated spars
- Mast lights and electronics
- Lifelines
- Mast Steps
- Deck Collars
At the Rigging Company we offer two levels of inspection, Basic and Inspections for Resale/ Insurance.
Basic Inspection
The basic inspection takes approximately 2-3 hours including a trip aloft; all of the aforementioned rigging components are evaluated and visually inspected by professional. TRC will then provide a list of any of the technician findings and recommendations along with a link to the images taken during the inspection. These items can all be found on the final invoice.
Inspections for Resale/ Insurance
The inspection for Resale/ Insurance includes all of the above items. Additionally, a completed report addressing any and all specifics of the sailing vessels rigging will be included. This report will denote a: satisfactory, unsatisfactory, or critical marking. Any unsatisfactory, or critically marked items will be explained in the comments along with an image. The report is then signed by the inspector and dated so that it can then be submitted to prospective brokers, buyer, sellers, insurance agents and/or general surveyors. This enhanced inspection typically takes about 3-4 hours and the detailed reports will be made available (usually) within 2-3 working days after the inspection, upon final payment.
