We offer standing rigging servicing and replacement services for wire, rod, and synthetic rigging. Wire and most synthetic rigging materials have a time-based lifespan & replacement interval, while rod rigging only has a service interval and technically has no lifespan (although in practice we find once rod rigging approaches 30 years of age it begins to crack when being re-headed, requiring replacement of the rod). For the Mid-Atlantic area, wire rigging has a lifespan of 10-15 years; at northern latitudes and on fresh water, 15-20 years; and in the Caribbean & latitudes near the equator, 5-7 years. Rod rigging should be serviced every 6 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Service & replacement intervals for synthetic rigging varies by material & manufacturer; in the past we have worked with dyneema, kevlar, PBO, and carbon synthetic rigging. As technology advances, many new synthetic options are becoming reasonable for cruising budgets and applications.
