Originally built for Volvo 60s, Code Zero furlers are used with free-flying asymmetrical headsails and staysails. Suitable for boats up to 21 m (70 ft), they tame Code Zero sails, screechers, Gennakers®, and staysails.

The Harken Reflex furling system is a game changer! The previous generation of free-flying sail furlers often resulted in partial or uneven furling. Patented Harken Reflex furlers provide sailors confidence that their free-flying spinnakers and gennakers will furl with speed and control. The result? Sailors use downwind sails more often-even when sailing shorthanded. The compact drive unit is easier to handle than other designs. Pull the furling line and the drive unit reacts reflexively to rotate the torsion cable, immediately transferring torque to the head swivel without unwanted corkscrewing delaying the response. The head swivel reacts instantly, spinning the sail smoothly and completely from top to bottom for an even roll-up and super-tight wrap. The furled spinnaker lowers easily to the deck, ready for the next hoist. The Reflex cable is more torsionally resistant to corkscrewing than current textile cables. Braided stainless steel wire filaments over braided polyester core transmit torque to head swivel through both tension and compression for faster furling (textile cable transmits through tension only). The quick-release modular T-fitting allows a single drive unit to handle multiple sails.

Please note that the installation of non-structural furling systems such as this one can be complex and typically has to involve both a professional rigger and a sailmaker. We strongly advise consulting a professional rigger (like us, for instance!) and sailmaker prior to purchasing components for this system.
Since top-down furlers require very high luff tension, a 2:1 adapter is available (and recommended). Also recommended is a halyard swivel installed on the end of the 2:1 halyard to release twisting in the halyard – see the EquipLite swivel products in Furling Accessories. To minimize twisting, Harken recommends using a dual luff cord system.  This system uses thimbles to loop the cords around the tack and head of the sail.

Furler includes drive unit, head swivel, reflex tack swivel terminal, snap shackle threaded adapter, reflex torsion cable & clamps.
