Our in-house Lazy Jack kits provide a clean, reliable solution for sailors installing a system from scratch or upgrading an existing setup. Designed and refined through decades of professional rigging experience, this system helps guide and contain the mainsail as it drops, making sail handling safer and far more manageable for cruising and short-handed crews.

This design was originally developed by Master Rigger Patrick Jinks (50+ years’ experience with Chesapeake Rigging, Annapolis Spars, and now The Rigging Company) and continues to evolve in our shop today. The result is a system that is simple, effective, and unobtrusive while outperforming many more complex commercial systems.

Our kits are intended for boats installing lazy jacks for the first time, but they can also be easily adapted if some hardware is already in place. Proper hardware placement is critical to lazy jack performance, and incorrect positioning is one of the main reasons battens catch or sails miss the lazy jack legs during drops. Our kits are designed to help you achieve proper geometry for smooth, repeatable sail handling.
