Volvo Ocean Race

After the fleet having to work upwind in some short and steep ‘chop’ (due to the strong current streams opposing the wind direction) for the first portion of this leg, the fleet did have a glimmer of some fast downwind action. Many of the crews have been sick for most of this leg due to sea conditions. Not just that but these boats really aren’t made for these harsh upwind conditions and risk damage. Finally last night, for the first time in a month, as the wind direction went a-stern these pedigree racing yachts could really ‘strut their stuff’. Oh and the regatta’s last place team, Team Sanya, find themselves in the lead for the first time in the race as of 10 am (fleet’s local time) this morning, GO SANYA!
