Anchors Aweigh

Volvo Ocean Race. Sanya. Team Dongfeng Racing

Sometimes in sailboat racing the guy that deploys the anchor first, pulls into the lead. Winds have been light and variable for most of this leg, as expected. However, the teams are nearing the final rounding mark and things may start “heating up”, as the teams begin to turn upwind  ~ see what I did there ;-0) ~

Since we haven’t checked in lately with the VOR fleet, I figured it was long overdue for an update. Dongfeng Race Team has been nearly un-catch-able and are extending their 68 NM lead almost every time I check. The teams have about 1,000 NM’s left to the finish and it appears to be upwind for most of it… at least for now. If you put it all into perspective it makes the seemingly large lead, not so large after-all. The estimated date of arrival is around 1/26/2015 or 1/27/2015. So stay tuned to VolvoOceanRace.com as the teams near their final destination of leg 3, beautiful Sanya, China.
